Join Chicago Cares and our partners, Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA), in hosting a block-party style series of PlayStreets! For this project, volunteers will support LUCHA in building stronger, healthier communities by encouraging youth from the Humboldt Park area to stay active, while also raising awareness about various causes and issues pertaining to their neighborhood.
The PlayStreets initiative is meant to assist in building healthier and stronger communities by collaborating with local community partners who create safe and accessible play areas for youth to stay active and learn, while also encouraging community engagement. This series of PlayStreets will run throughout the summer and will be a fun opportunity for out-of-school youth and their caregivers to gain access to community resources and things like school supplies.
For this project volunteers will be involved in setting up/taking down tables, directing anyone who may have questions, monitoring children as they play, decorating and performing other tasks as needed by the partner. Volunteers should expect to be standing and walking so wearing comfortable shoes is recommended. There will be no heavy lifting required, however, proof of vaccination is mandatory and masks are optional.
