In order to position the next generation of adults for success, we best provide them an excellent education. Towards that end, would our future as a community be enriched by offering parents the opportunity to choose the best school for their children.

Granted, I am biased towards private school education. I have always disliked paying taxes for schools I didn’t use. But to your point: if parents options are good. wouldn’t it be good to offer the poor parents among us to have options?

I see the benefit of allowing public and private schools. It gives parents the options, one option might be better than the other. I don’t see why we should fund private schools. The name says it all, they are private. And if we properly funded schools, they could function well. However, I see giving families a “scholarship” as a good middle-ground option. Families can then spend the money on either public or private. I still believe the bulk of funding should go to public schools, mainly improving school facilities and programs.
