Hello, D.C. Forward Volunteers!
Please join us to kick off the D.C. Street Team program this Sunday, June 12th at the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza (directions below).
We will be meeting people and handing out material in 2 shifts, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 and from 1:00 to 3 p.m., with 30-minute training and warm-up sessions at 9:30 and 12:30 and a lunch break at noon.
If you want to participate, RSVP here on the web, and then email me and let me know which shift(s) you can join. I'll send you a volunteer toolkit you can read ahead of time and print to bring with you. Please arrive 30 minutes ahead of your session for the practice and training.
For those who have never done them, Street Teams are basically hanging out in a public place, telling people about the Forward Party, and inviting them to get involved. They are a fun way to hang out with other members of our chapter and to meet new people AND they are a crucial community organizing tool to build the movement. You don't need prior experience to join.
I am really excited to start this program with you all. Let's go make a difference!
Thanks!

Getting There:
By subway: This is the easiest way to get there. Take the Yellow/Green line and get off at Columbia Heights, then walk north a block, you can't miss it.
By car: GPS will get you there, but street parking is hard to find directly on 14th street, so you'll need to park on a side street and likely a couple blocks away. (Make sure to pay attention to the parking signs because some sides of the street are for visitors and others require a parking pass). You can also park in the Target/DC USA Shopping Complex garage for $1 to $2/hr.
By bus: the 52/54 bus runs up and down 14th street and the S1, S2, and S4 bus runs on 16th street (2 blocks west).
If you have any trouble finding it, just call me (Brandon) at the number listed above.
