The two big political parties have become SIDES in a fight, and I am not on either side. I see another way. “Forward” is not a party or a side. It is another name for the “way” – like get out of the way – it refers to the direction of our motion. To me, as a retired US Naval officer, it is a metaphor that there is enough water flowing past the rudder so the ship can be steered. America is a “ship.” She’s a great “citizenship” that is under way, but quickly loosing power. Her power came like the wind as an act of God, which is Truth itself, and her citizens harnessed that power by working together for truth and justice. The “American way” is the way of truth, because truth leads to “liberty and justice for all”.

Superman was a metaphor that helped Americans come together during WWII. “Truth” and “justice” had always been part of Superman’s mantra, but during the war, “and the American way” was added. American citizens were in the same situation then as we are now and they had to pull together to give us forward way and that is what saved us. The fact that “the American way” was officially dropped from Superman’s motto and replaced with “a better tomorrow” reflects the fact that we have lost our American way. We are quickly losing steerageway and our nemeses are gaining on us. But this is not a comic strip. WWIII is imminent. Our people and our leaders need for us to push forward.
