Nick Simmons's Profile
Nick has deep roots in Connecticut’s 36th District. He and his four siblings grew up spending summer days at Tod’s Point, afternoons at Bruce Park, and Christmas caroling at Nathaniel Witherell, and he is a new father raising his son here in Stamford. Nick found his passion for service teaching 7th grade math in Harlem, New York, later becoming one of the youngest acting principals in the state. Afterwards, he returned to Connecticut to work in Governor Lamont’s Administration, eventually serving as Deputy Chief of Staff. There, he helped design and implement policies investing hundreds of millions into schools and infrastructure, growing the economy, training workers, and combating climate change. He also served as a Senior Advisor in President Biden’s Administration, overseeing school reopenings nationwide during COVID-19 and ensuring $190 billion supported students and teachers.
With 12 years of public policy experience, Nick understands the returns that lower taxes, reduced costs, and public infrastructure investments can bring. He is dedicated to growing our economy, rebuilding our schools, improving our transportation, fighting gun violence, defending women’s rights, and combating climate change. He is running for State Senate to champion our district so that future generations can thrive.
