Join Massachusetts Forward and Coalition for Healthy Democracy to gather signatures for All Party Primaries. This is a 2026 ballot initiative that would create an all-party primary with the top two vote-getters – regardless of party – advancing to the general election.
- The current electoral system puts parties over people, rewarding partisan extremes rather than consensus-building candidates.
- All Party Primaries would give new candidates an actual chance, make elections more competitive, and ensure ALL voters – including Independents – have an equal opportunity to participate in primaries.
- We already vote this way for mayoral elections in most Massachusetts cities.
- All Party Primaries is NOT a jungle primary, and our measure includes controls to create a more streamlined process than the current gubernatorial race in California (for example).
- Check out Mass Forward Chair Spencer Morin Reynolds fantastic testimony during the legislative process on Beacon Hill for more on the initiative.
Why now:
- We passed the 75K threshold for initial ballot certification last fall (woohoo!), but we still need about 12K more signatures to advance to the next stage of the process.
- With less than 6 months until November elections, it’s time to flex our organizing muscles and show that Mass Forward can mobilize when it counts.
- Forward has committed to collecting at least 1,000 signatures by early June and we need your help!
