A self-styled Progressive Populist, Mark is running as an Independent to harness the power of broadly-shared Heartland values to break through the current dysfunction of our two-party system. He’s sick and tired of watching a polarized Congress stagnate as economic disparities mount and our culture erodes.

Mark is a 4th generation “Okie” – he’s the grandson of coal miners, construction laborers, and migrant farm workers, and was raised in poor and working-class neighborhoods in Tulsa. His Native, Mexican and Anglo heritage reflects the grand historical diversity of Oklahoma. He was blessed with a world-class education, has enjoyed a broad 40-year career as a lawyer and professor, and has acquired significant experience running independent campaigns and advocacy organizations. Mark recognizes the centrality of family in all that we seek to achieve as a society. And in all things, he strives to be a faithful disciple of Jesus.
