Jessica Porter's Profile

Jessica Porter aka JP is a Native Kansan, Seaman High School alumni, and University of Kansas alumni. She is also a child welfare advocate and women's reproductive rights advocate. JP became interested in local government while working for the Department of Children and Families. She has been involved heavily in local government ever since.

While JP has always been registered as a Democrat, she comes from a rural part of Topeka where for the most part, party affiliation does not influence how a voter will vote, especially on more local races. JP has always been the kind of person who wants to understand why someone has a particular stance or belief. She has always been a listener in this way because she is a problem solver. JP believes that right now we have a problem, people do not trust their representatives and feel that they only show up when they want votes or money. She wants to solve that issue by knocking doors and engaging with EVERY voter no matter what their party affiliation is because representatives are getting sent to that state house to represent ALL of their districts constituents, not just one party.
