Alyssa Nilemo spent their early career in the care industry working in early childhood education, hospice care and disability services. Even when they changed career paths into government administration they never lost sight of the people who make up the community and the importance of serving them. From working in a City Manager's Office as an Aide and for the State of Colorado in higher education has informed their belief in the importance of local governance. Alyssa knows from experience that the government is meant to serve the community, and that this gets lost when we don’t put people before politics, distracting us from the local issues.

Alyssa cares about who is going to do the work and lead effectively in Colorado house district 44. Seeing families struggle to afford childcare, working families pulling doubles to try and gain access to higher education and our elders getting lost in the healthcare system led Alyssa to return to school in 2018 to pursue a degree in Political Science. Alyssa hoped to better serve the community and believes their background in public administration and politics will empower them fight for the needs of all residents living in HD44.

Additionally, when elected, Ms.Nilemo will be the only AAPI Elected at the State level in Colorado.
