Phyllis Bernard's Profile
Phyllis Bernard was recently appointed to fill a vacancy on the Clallam County PUD, due to her deep and broad experience governing a regional transmission organization that covers 14 states. Phyllis is the first woman chosen for this seat, and the first person experienced at delivering grid-level green energy; not just debating it. Phyllis's expertise in developing regulatory regimes allowed her to advocate on behalf of rural areas during contract negotiations with BPA. She has encouraged the CPUD to institute community dialogs to assure collaborative decision-making as the county seeks sustainable, affordable solutions to climate change.
Phyllis is a mediator and peacemaker, stateside and globally. She seeks to walk the talk in her political life, too. Phyllis has been part of finding common ground in strife-torn regions of Africa, and building relationship-based, grassroots justice. She believes such common ground exists here, too; and that we can - we must - build our future together along principles of democracy and honoring the Rule of Law. Electrons do not care about red or blue. Neither do water molecules. Nor should we.
