"The illusion seems to be that you only have a voice through your vote. The Young Forwardists maintain that you always have a voice in politics, and we will organize to ensure it's heard."

-Young Forwardists President Gabriel McGuire

The Young Forwardists are ready for change.

After the most divisive election cycle in recent memory, we seek to create a new era of accountability and transparent government leadership. Too often, politicians and policymakers operate solely on rhetoric and divisive argument, failing to deliver on core campaign promises they sought to execute. The Young Forwardists believe our elected officials should strive to serve their communities without pandering to a base or further dividing a fractured country.

To deliver on the promise of creating accountability and transparency in government, The Young Forwardists Committee is proud to step into its new role as the Watchdogs of Democracy. Just because our elected officials win doesn't mean they're relieved of the public eye. We won't let our representatives take advantage of us. The Young Forwardists pledge to organize through our campus chapters to monitor the behavior of local officials, survey public opinion, and democratically organize to ensure our politicians are accurate to the needs of their community.

Our Watchdogs of Democracy Initiative starts locally. Chapters lead the process by researching the behaviors of locally elected officials, seeking to gauge the popularity of their actions. Chapters then communicate the representative's track record to their localities. We survey the district to ensure that the will of the constituency and the elected official's behavior are in line. Our final, bold step is to act. The Young Forwardists will mobilize on campus and in the district to get the word out, good or bad. You will see our posters on every corner. And so will our representatives. The ball will be in their court: realign with their constituency or risk mobilization for an opponent in the next election.

The new purpose of the Young Forwardists News is to serve as crucial documentation of how politicians and elected officials compromise with constituents while acting in accordance with the beliefs of their voter base. We will document the political, social, and economic facets of different campaigns when compared to the actions they have taken while in office. With the Republican Party winning the House, Senate, and the presidency, it is vital that the population of the United States ensure that our voices are heard, and campaign promises are fulfilled. According to Young Forwardists President Gabriel McGuire, "This initiative is long in the making. But now it's more important than ever as one party now has control over every branch of our federal government. It is our job to educate voters about what is at stake in the hands of each and every elected official. The time to act is now, and the options are clear. As Americans, we can’t pick the wrong one."
