Nick Batter's Profile

Born to a teenager who raised him as a single mother, Nick's childhood was marked by empty fridges, utility shutoffs, and evictions. With the support of public school teachers and community leaders, he earned a full-ride to Harvard, working night-shift in a factory to pay for textbooks. He enlisted in the Army, later commissioning at the infantry school and leading civil works construction units. He attended law school on the GI Bill. Now a nationally recognized construction attorney, Nick and his wife Jill are the proud parents of three young children.

Nick believes politics is about serving the community and is frustrated to see important local issues become sidelined by hyper-partisanship. He is running on a platform focused on tangible local issues: smarter infrastructure growth to improve public safety, increasing federal reimbursement to help community healthcare, and ending the state’s tax breaks for slumlords. He posted a strong first place victory over three well-funded challengers in the open primary earlier this year.
