-Strengthen funding for
IEP services & discrimination.
-Prioritize funding for occupational training & experience instead of useless, expensive & time-consuming non-occupational college degrees.
-Change the graduation grade to 10th grade. (Allow young people access to the economy & funded occupational training starting at age 16.)
-Condition all higher education funding on a commitment for the
COLLEGE to pay the student
BACK their tuition fees, in situations where the college failed to deliver effective preparation.
COLLEGES should be paying back students for failed programs,
NOT the taxpayer.
-Public school & college is like academic indentured servitude…. Except instead of gaining a house or land at the end of all this unpaid labor, we start off adulthood knowing we just lost the equivalent of a house in all the taxes we paid these tyrannical institutions. In exchange for giving away the equivalent of a house to public education, what did we get in return?? We can’t even afford a home now. And full time college without pay forces people to delay starting a life and family, and forces women into aborting their child because of all this stress.
-One big problem driving up all of this years unpaid academic indentured servitude and debt is that employers demand degrees, even when it’s not needed for the job.
-Personally, I think that employers who require a college degree should collectively pay the students minimum wage for all time the student spends on academic labor for all classes that the employer requires of them. College labor should be
PAID.
-We also need a tiered minimum wage system which increases for jobs that require certain degrees, skills or experience…….
This would force employers to stop demanding unnecessary degrees & driving up debt, allow young people go back to the days when you could access the economy & support your family without years of unpaid college indentured servitude. It would help young people see which degrees will land them which kind of jobs/pay, so they can plan out their academic path better. Working class students would no longer feel forced to work a second job on top of their college labor to support themselves. Employers who want to bypass the requirement to pay for college labor, would be incentivized to provide more of their own (paid) on-the-job training.
I also think that new mothers in college deserve paid maternal leave. What a concept!!
- Yes I know that some of my ideas sound outlandish & will probably never happen. But….. when you think about it, it makes total sense….. It’s not ok for employers to demand that their potential employees go thru YEARS of full time, unpaid job training, and force people into huge student debt, especially in cases where some of courses have nothing to do with the job.
Somehow, the Federal government should stop incentivizing this mass exploitation of young people. You need to add more strings to that funding. Otherwise you keep giving our exploiters a blank check to duplicate their tyranny & oppression.
Give us hope for our children’s future, because right now, people like me, have none. I just feel lost, scared & overwhelmed. And pissed.
