Writing letters to the editor is a fantastic way to raise awareness and excitement for Ranked Choice Voting in your community. In this workshop, we'll quickly review and practice together the essentials of an effective RCV pitch, how to write and get your letter published, and will get a head start penning your first one!
Kicking us off will be key leaders from FairVote. Communications Director Ashley Houghton give us a brief update on the impact LTEs for RCV are having, based on the data her team has collected. Advocacy Program Coordinator Diane Silver will highlight the successes FairVote has had working with people around the country on LTEs.
The training will be led by Rank the Vote Executive Director Nathan Lockwood and by the incredible Sam Daley-Harris, who has successfully led hundreds of such trainings for organizations that have produced thousands of letters to the editor, like Citizens' Climate Lobby.
About Sam Daley-Harris:
Sam founded the anti-poverty lobby RESULTS in 1980. In 2012 he founded Civic Courage which helps nonprofits transform their members into courageous citizen leaders. He coached Citizens' Climate Lobby its first seven years and is the author of Reclaiming Our Democracy: Healing the Break between People and Government.
