Andrew Yang to Headline Forward Party in Virginia Virtual Town Hall on Political Reform and 2025 Elections
Former Presidential Candidate Will Discuss the Movement to Reshape American Politics and Build a New Political Home for Disaffected Voters
RICHMOND, VA — The Forward Party in Virginia will host a virtual fireside chat with Andrew Yang, co-founder of the national Forward Party, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 6:30–7:30 PM ET. The conversation will focus on Forward’s national growth, its ambitions in Virginia, and the movement’s broader mission to disrupt the two-party status quo and build a more functional democracy.

Virginia’s Forward leaders say the event comes at a pivotal time for democracy, as the 2025 statewide elections approach and growing numbers of Americans express disillusionment with both major parties.
“Our democracy is strained, and millions of voters feel politically homeless,” said Sophia A. Nelson, spokesperson for the Forward Party in Virginia. “We’re building a new kind of political home—one based on dignity, dialogue, and data-driven solutions. This event is about showing Virginians that there’s another way forward.”
A New Political Home for the Exhausted Majority
Launched in 2021 by Yang and a coalition of civic leaders, the Forward Party is now the fastest-growing third party in the United States. It positions itself not around ideology but approach, emphasizing electoral reform, institutional accountability, and practical policymaking over partisan warfare.
Its platform is anchored by three principles:
- Free People – Protect constitutional rights and individual freedoms.
- Thriving Communities – Elevate local leadership and practical problem-solving.
- Vibrant Democracy – Expand participation and reform the systems that reward division.
The party supports innovations such as ranked-choice voting, open primaries, and nonpartisan redistricting—reforms it believes are essential to restoring trust in government and breaking the grip of political extremism. “Virginians are ready for a politics that puts people over partisanship. The Forward Party is about bridging divides, respecting all voices, and creating a home for the exhausted majority. We’re not just talking about change—we’re building it. This event is our call to action.” Said State Party Chairman Eric Richards.
Virginia: A Key State in Forward’s Strategy
Virginia’s unique political landscape—swing districts, independent voters, and off-year elections—makes it central to the Forward Party’s national expansion plans. Leaders say they are actively recruiting candidates for local office, building county-level infrastructure, and engaging with voters who have become disaffected with the current system.
“We’re not here to pull votes from one party or another—we’re here to change the incentives in our political system,” said Andrew Yang. “Most Americans want cooperation, not chaos. That’s what the Forward Party is delivering.”
